Today we've got one for fans of the bubbly as sommelier André Hueston Mack returns with another episode of World Of Wine, this time to taste and share his thoughts on 12 sparkling wines. How is sparkling wine made? Which bottles justify their hefty price tags and which ones punch above their weight? With prices ranging from $17 to over $500, André offers tips on how to navigate sticker shock and hone in on what really matters when it comes to getting the most bang for your buck when choosing a sparkling wine.

For me personally, Krug has always been one of the most desirable Champagnes and they are difficult to get as they are not cheap. The three wines that I am going to taste today cost a whopping 1,400 US$ combined - but to many wine lovers, they are worth the price. So what is behind the house of Krug and why are people all around the world in love with those wines? Krug was established in 1843 in Reims the Capital of Champagne – many of the other famous Champagne houses are older than that. Found by Johann-Joseph Krug (Born in 1800): A German immigrant from Mainz who Left Germany in 1824 and learned the trade at Champagne house Jacquesson. He called himself Jean-Joseph after immigrating to France and he and the six generations of Krugs propelled the House to the top.Krug, like many of the bigger Houses, was bought by LVMH (Moet Hennesey Louis-Vuitton) in 1999 but Olivier Krug is still the Director of the House. As one of few Champagne houses Krugs Cellar Master is a woman Julie Cavil. She took over from long-time cellar master Eric Lebel in 2020. She worked at Krug for 14 years before taking over so she knows about the elaborate winemaking process at the winery.

MASTER of WINE Tastes Alcohol FREE Wines for Dry January

https://weeiup.com/page/view-post?id=637

https://weeiup.com/page/view-post?id=637

We have had a strong connection to alcoholic beverages for a long time as humans have been making wine for at least seven thousand years. There are reasons why we like to drink wine and not grape juice at the end of a long day at work or on a celebration with friends: Wine offers far more flavors that were created during fermentation, it is not necessarily sweet and therefore matches better with many dishes and it contains alcohol. Alcohol only accounts for up to 15% of a bottle of wine but it plays an important role: stores and transports flavors, adds viscosity and it also relaxes you and it can reduce your risk of heart disease when consumed in moderation. But alcohol can also damage your health and become a huge problem in your life which is why worldwide alcohol consumption is declining and especially in Europe and the US more and more people are choosing not to drink. The alcohol-free wine category is growing and I want to know whether these “wines” are alternatives to the wine we like to drink. As a matter of fact, wine has to contain at least 8.5 % abv in EUROPE alcohol to CLASSIFY as wine – with some exceptions. The products that we are talking about are therefore n... Read more

Gigondas - Master of Wine does Deep Dive and Vintage Wine Tasting

https://weeiup.com/page/view-post?id=636

https://weeiup.com/page/view-post?id=636

My name is Konstantin Baum – I am a Master of Wine and today I am going to dive deep into a somewhat underrated region in the southern Rhône: Gigondas. As you have asked me to talk more about ageability and Terroir I have prepared 5 different wines from five different vintages that I am going to taste with you. A few weeks ago I ran a seminar on Gigondas, and I was fascinated by the region and thought that this would be an interesting topic for a video. I have tasted the following wines in this Video:2008 Louis Roederer Cristal2013 Louis Roederer Cristal
Today I am going to explore the difference between vintages and aged wine. But I did not pick any wine for this experiment. Instead, I got two bottles of Roederer Cristal, one of the most expensive Champagnes and I am going to taste them here with you … and you know what – it is still morning so I would call this a pretty good start into the day. The producer behind this wine is Louis Roederer a family-owned estate – which is increasingly rare for the bigger houses in Champagne Even though its history goes back into the 19th century Cristal was not commercially available until it was first released to the market in 1945 and it is now only produced in the best vintages. Today It is one of the most expensive and most iconic champagnes. Special about Roederer is that they own 240 hectares supplying around 70% of the fruit they need which is exceedingly rare for bigger Champagne houses. Roughly half of their vineyards are certified organic, and they do biodynamic farming as well. All Cristal blends are 100% biodynamic since 2012. 45 different parcels are being used for Cristal and they pick the best ones every vintage. The Cristal is a vintage Champagne which means that the grapes are exclusively from that specific vintage and represent the quality of that year. Most of the Champagnes are non-vintage so it is generally the better and more expensive wine and the higher quality grapes go into it. Comparing these too wines is fairly easy as the two vintages were made in more or less the same way.... Read more

GREAT German PINOTS – Master of Wine tastes Spätburgunder

https://weeiup.com/page/view-post?id=633

https://weeiup.com/page/view-post?id=633
